In Ducklings class, we have two curriculums running side by side. This allows children from both year groups to enjoy and benefit from a wealth of different learning opportunities and experiences.
Reception children will follow the Early Years Foundation Stage, with teaching and learning supported by guidance from the ‘Development Matters’ document. This breaks learning and development down into seven key areas: Personal, Social & Emotional Development, Communication & Language, Physical Development, Literacy, Maths, Understanding The World, and Expressive Arts & Design.
Children in Year 1 will follow the National Curriculum, which is separated into subjects such as English, Maths, Science, History and Geography.
Each half term we have a new topic and much of our learning is linked to this theme. An overview of our topics for this year can be found below.
