At Lavenham, we use the ‘Letters and Sounds’ phonics programme to teach phonics, supported by the images and actions from ‘Jolly Phonics’ to help children learn and remember the letter sounds. 

Reception children will cover Phases 2, 3 and 4, while Year 1 children will consolidate Phase 4 and then move on to Phase 5.

Jolly Phonics | Sounds and Actions

This video demonstrates the first 26 letter sounds in the Jolly Phonics scheme. It shows the correct pronunciation of each sound and the corresponding action for each one.

All About Digraphs | Jolly Phonics

This video covers the ‘digraphs’ found in Phase 3 phonics. It demonstrates what they are, how to identify them and the corresponding Jolly Phonics actions so that you can support your child at home.
